(1st Funding Period)

In the first funding period, the research aimed at elucidating how particle properties influence structure and biochemistry of cells. This included information on the uptake, distribution, and location of particles. Our purpose was to pave the way for the design of safer nanomaterials.

In the second funding period, INM together with ZMT develops degradable, low-cost sensors for environmental and infrastructure monitoring that reduce electronic waste. By studying material leaching from discarded electronics we identify harmful components and replace them using a safe and secure by design approach.
