Research Programme
In the second funding period, the research program will capitalize on the interdisciplinary collaborations established between the partner institutes in the first phase but broaden the scope from a safe-by-design goal towards addressing sustainability. We will shift from funding of doctoral student projects to funding of seed projects for postdoctoral researcher. Five postdoctoral projects of two years duration each will be established.

Within the frame of the first funding phase, the research programme considered four scientific categories (A-D). A total of five case studies were conducted as doctoral researcher projects. Category D was further supported by all project partners, and aimed at advancing the use and usability of research data in concurrent projects.
A: Design Concepts for Safer Advanced Materials
Case study A1: Cluster Tox
Case study A2: Polymer Fibre Tox
B: Impact of Advanced Materials on Human Health and the Environment
Case study B1: Dissolution Control
Case study B2: Environmental Impact of Advanced Materials on Marine Fauna and Flora
C: Knowledge Transfer
Case study C1: Safe Materials Communication
D: Cross-Cutting Topics
D1: Outreach Activities
D2: Digital, FAIR and High-Quality Research Data
